Khmer Girl

Khmer Girl (pron. kah-mai) is the autobiographical collection of poetry written by Khmer-American author Peuo Tuy. Her tale spans her family surviving the Pol Pot/Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia, and their emigration as refugees to the United States. Contrasting works by other survivors, Peuo focuses on her life after Cambodia. Growing up in America, she encounters racism, poverty, self-hatred, and a clash of American and traditional Cambodian culture. Khmer Girl is the story of how a young woman's struggle to love herself, and the forging of a confident identity.
AMP is proud to announce that Khmer Girl, the cornerstone in its foundation, will be released in the 3rd Quarter of 2009.
