Award winning producer, poet, director, and screenwriter, Charneice Fox is the grand -daughter of a West Virginia coal miner. Her interest in politics brought her to Washington, DC to work for Congressman Rahall during her college years. Believing in the power of policy and arts activism Charneice has worked for major non-profit organization Americans for the Arts helping to develop their membership marketing campaign for the Art Action Fund. She has also spent time in Los Angeles working for the Black AIDS Institute, and helped plan their 2006 attendance to the World AIDS Conference in Toronto.
Her work with these two powerful non-profits led to the creation of Straight, No Chaser Productions, a community-minded filmmaking ensemble and creative media solutions firm that seeks to challenge ignorance, inspire thought, and open dialogue through a kaleidoscope of stimulating and entertaining film projects and workshops. Their films have screened on BET and at festivals from LA to Martha’s Vineyard. SNC's film Multitude of Mercies, depicts how a black church deals with creating an AIDS ministry won the 2005 POP award from Cable Positive TV for outstanding programming. Her written work has been published in the Campaign to End AIDS Anthology, Growing Up Girl, A & U Magazine, and the DC Scene on NBC4.com.
Charneice has shared the stage with the legendary Last Poets member Abiodun Oyewole, contemporary urban artist Dwele, and poet Malcolm Jamal Warner. She has also opened for R&B recording artist Pebo Bryson and Maysa. In the last 3 years Charneice has built an extensive creative resume designing documentary programs for youth, and continues to work with high school students impressing the importance of building strong communities through social work, and the power of creative media. Working with youth programs led to the production of 3 documentaries: A Weigh with Words, an inside look at how the words we use create conflict or compassion, The MLK Streets Project, a look at urban areas who have streets named after the civil rights matyr, and Sample: A cross generational conversation about music. A Weigh With Words features hip-hop legend DMC, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, and the Honorable Congresswoman Norton, of DC. The MLK Streets Project has appearances from Harry Belefonte, and Danny Glover.
